The scheme was launched on 22 January 2015 as a part of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign.

* Age of Child : Last date for a girl child to open account under this scheme will be her 10th birthday.
* Citizenship of the Girl Child : Account can only be opened for girl child who hold Indian citizenship.
